Changing Cityscapes

Hong Kong; a place I call home. It's quite different from Ottawa, it's a growing and living city. The skyline has been changing over the years that I've been here. New massive 60+ story skyscrapers like the Centre have appeared in the Central district and others have popped up where the old Kai Tak airport once stood.

The latest is the new ICC (International Commerce Centre) building going up in Tsim Sha Tsui. This tower is in competition with the Burj Dubai, the Shanghai World Financial Centre, and several other towers all being completed in the next year or so. None of these towers actually has an official height, I'm guessing they're all just trying the be the highest tower by the end of the decade.

The new one in Hong Kong now looms over it's nearest neighbour at 74 stories. I'm guessing in its uncompleted state, maybe about 90 stories or so.

I'm always impressed with the growth and expansion in Asia. If you take a look at the listing in About.com 8 of the top 10 towers under construction are all in East Asia.

Well, at least back in the states, we've got the new Freedom Tower to look forward to.
